The Catafalque Candle stands come in a set of 6. The Candle stands are made of Teak Wood. The carved stands in teak are first treated with pesticides and insecticides. Two coats of sealer are applied on the treated stands to close the pores in wood. The natural cracks in the wood are closed with metal paste and then finally the stands are spray painted with black metal paint (dull finish). The candleholders on the top of the stand are made of Brass and are Nickel Plated. The height of the Candle stand is 24 inches and each stand comes in 3 easy to assemble pieces for ease of transportation and storage.

Catafalque Candle Stands: are used in Requiem Mass of extraordinary form. This is used in the traditional form of funeral service where Six candles are kept along side the casket and burn during absolution services. In the new Rite of the Mass, the Paschal Candle is lit at the head of the coffin. In the traditional Latin Rite, the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, this is not the case. The coffin on the catafalque or "trolly" if you will, is surrounded by six candles and the coffin is covered in a black pall, not white. While every church had these prior to the liturgical reforms they cannot be found today. We are proud to bring the traditional Catafalque Candle stands back at an affordable price.
